Persimmons
Fuyu’s are short, squat and non-astrigent and when ripe they have a sweet flavor with a hint of cinnamon and apricot. You can eat them raw when they are firm or soft and they do not need to be peeled. Fuyu’s can be eaten like an apple, cut up and eaten on their own or great in a salad. You may sometimes find a few seeds inside but they are easy to eat around.

Kiwi Berries
It is kiwi berry time again! The season is very short, end of September through the beginning of October, so you don’t want to miss out. Kiwi berries are a member of the Actinidia genus family, the same as a regular kiwi and have been described as a cousin of the kiwi we all know. They taste exactly like a kiwi but they are about the size of a grape, fuzzless, with edible seeds and you just pop them whole into your mouth. Kiwi berries are also known by the name hardy kiwi, artic kiwi or baby kiwi.
Earl’s Launches Fresh Organic Heirloom Salsa
Exciting NEW things are happening at Earls. EARL’S ORGANIC SEASONAL LIMITED EDITION SALSA is here! Earls uses only the most flavorful ripe heirlooms grown at Tutti Frutti Farms in Lompoc, CA. Lompoc is located in the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara where the unique climate of cool nights and hot days help with the acid/sugar balance and the firmness of the fruit. Chris Cadwell has been growing heirlooms since 1988, when people didn’t know how delicious a purple or yellow tomato could be. Heirlooms are unique because you can’t find them all year long. The true season of a California heirloom starts in July and can last through November if we are lucky, depending on the weather.
Earl’s Heirloom Salsa is USDA Certified Organic and always made fresh at Bay Cities Produce in San Leandro and then shipped out to retailers the next day. Bay Cities Produce is a family owned and operated produce distributor and processor that have been in business for over 60 years. They specialize in the distribution and processing of gourmet foods for the fresh food industry in the bay area and beyond. Bay Cities is committed to producing the absolute highest quality organic pre-cut produce. Bay Cities Produce number one priority is to promote Food Safety, starting with the farms.
Earl’s Organic Heirloom Salsa is all organic all the time. Follow our new heirloom salsa tab on Facebook and updates on Twitter to find out which local retailers in Northern California will be carrying Earl’s Heirloom salsa and dates and times we will be demoing the salsa.

Pink Pearl Apples Are Only Here For A Week!
The beautiful pink flesh wowed me when I cut up a Pink Pearl apple this morning for Earl’s Kitchen Table picture. Amazing! I have never seen anything like it. They are crisp and juicy with a sweet/tart taste. Pink Pearls were developed in Northern California in 1944 by a man named Albert Etter, using another red-fleshed apple called Surprise as a seedling.
Earl’s Pink Pearl apples are coming from our grower Rider and Sons out of Watsonville, California. They are only around for a week, so don’t miss this opportunity to try them! Jim and Dick Rider are fifth generation orchardists and their grandfather, Homer, was one of the pioneer fruit growers in the Watsonville, California area.
Flame Grapes
Flame seedless grapes are available from May-November. Did you know that 99% of the grapes commercially grown come from California? There are over 70 varieties of grapes grown.
